Developing National Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) reporting

What difference will this make

Services and policy-makers will be able to identify variation in SACT utilisation across Scotland, and decide whether or not this is unwarranted.

The SCRIS team have successfully connected all Chemocare® databases, meaning there is now a SACT data view for the entire population of Scotland. The SCRIS team will now work to make this national view of SACT data available in the SCRIS dashboards. This will mean:

  • Standardised national SACT data is available for outcomes and pathway analysis
  • Service managers and clinicians can benchmark their services against the rest of Scotland
  • SACT data can be analysed alongside and with linkage to other national datasets, in order to allow a more detailed understanding of the whole patient pathway
  • A standardised approach to SACT data recording is embedded in the future

The work of the SCRIS and the wider cancer data team in developing a national view of SACT data from across Scotland is a great achievement. This will ensure improvements in treatments for patients are based on evidence from a national level.”
